In May 2012 population's deposits in Armenia banks grew by 4.3%
ArmInfo. In May 2012 the deposits of Armenia's banks totaled 1.056tr AMD ($2.6bln) - 2.2% more than in Apr 2012 and 39.4% more than in May 2011.
The Central Bank of Armenia reports that 31.2% of them or 329.6bln AMD ($812.5mln) were AMD deposits, 68.8% or 726.4bln AMD ($1.8bln) foreign exchange deposits.
21.2% of the deposits or 223.9bln AMD were non-resident deposits, wherein the share of AMD deposits made up 15.8bln AMD, while the share of foreign exchange deposits 208.1bln AMD. Resident deposits made up 78.8% of all deposits or 832.2bln AMD: 313.9bln AMD were AMD deposits, 518.3bln AMD foreign exchange deposits.
33.2% of the resident deposits or 276.2bln AMD were call deposits, 66.8% or 556bln AMD time deposits.
In May 2012 the interest rates of AMD deposits grew by 0.19% to 9.15% as compared with Apr 2012 and dropped by 0.07% as compared with May 2011.
