Commemorative coins issued by Central Bank of Armenia awarded in Moscow
ArmInfo. On June 14 Armenian commemorative coins issued by the Central Bank of Armenia were awarded at the 6th international contest of commemorative coins in Moscow. The press service of the Central Bank of Armenia (CBA) reports that the silver coins "Khachkars of Armenia" gained the second place at the contest in the nomination "Collection of the Year", and the gold commemorative coin dedicated to the 2200th anniversary of Artashat town gained the third place in the nomination "Commemorative Coin of the Year".
The source says that the Moscow international contest has been held since 2007. This year a total of 42 organizations from 29 countries (including the Central Banks of Armenia, Russia, Bulgaria, Belarus, Ukraine, Mexico, as well as the Mints of Austria, Poland, Spain, France) submitted more than 250 coins and 28 coin series for approval of the international jury. The jury members were 40 experts from the world known museums and auctions and other associations.
To note, in 2011 the Central Bank of Armenia put into circulation 5 gold and 13 silver commemorative coins, and in 2012-2013 it is planned to issue 4 gold and 10 silver coins.
