Real Effective Exchange Rate down 7% for the first half of 2012 amid 4.4% decline of NEER
ArmInfo. Real Effective Exchange Rate (REER) was down 7% for the first half of 2012 to 122.5 as of July 1 2012. As compared to June 2011m REER fell 2.9%, says the Central Bank of Armenia monthly reference guide.
To recall, in 2011 this indicator grew in January, September and December. It fell in the period from Feb to Aug, and from Oct to Nov. In 2012 REER grew just in January and then began to fall continuously.
The Nominal Effective Exchange Rate (NEER) was down 4.4% for Jan-Jun 2012 to 211.8. As compared to the same period of 2011 NEED fell 0.5%. In 2011 NEER fell in the period from Jan up to Apr and in Oct and Nov. NEER grew in May, June, July, August, September and December. In 2012 NEER grew only in May.
