In Aug 2012 Armenian banks issued 34,011 cards


ArmInfo. In Aug 2012 Armenian banks issued 34,011 cards – 40.7% more than in Aug 2011. Sept 1 2012 there were 920,300 active cards against 673,400 Sept 1 2011.

Armenian Card reports that in Aug 2012 the banks issued 15,203 ArCa cards (68.2% more than a year before), 9,893 Visas (67.8% growth) and 8,915 Mastercards (3.5% decline).

Sept 1 2011 the banks had 213,000 Mastercards, 249,100 Visas and 458,200 ArCas.

607,500 cards were used in Aug 2012 or 66% of all active cards: 323,100 ArCas, 151,800 Visas, 132,600 Mastercards.

Sept 1 2012 there were 5,673 POS-terminals (34.4% more than Sept 1 2011) and 910 ATMs (18.3% more), with all of them accepting ArCas.

The majority shareholder of ArCa is the Central Bank of Armenia, with ACBA-Credit Agricole Bank, Armeconombank and Ardshininvestbank owning big stakes and 14 more banks 2% each.
