In Aug 2012 bank deposits in Armenia grew by 3.9% to $2.749bln
ArmInfo. In Aug 2012 bank deposits in Armenia grew by 3.9% to 1.123trl AMD or $2.749bln. As compared with Aug 2011 the index grew by 30.2%.
The Central Bank of Armenia reports that 29.2% of the deposits or 327.5bln ($801.6mln) were AMD deposits (0.5% growth in Aug 2012 and 27.7% growth as compared with Aug 2011), while 70.8% or 795.8bln AMD ($1.948bln) were foreign exchange deposits (+5.4% and +31.2%, respectively).
22.8% of the deposits or 256.1bln AMD were non-resident deposits (+7.8% and +38.5%): 16.4bln AMD in AMD and 239.7bln AMD in foreign exchange. 77.2% of the deposits or 867.2bln AMD were resident deposits: 311bln AMD in AMD and 532.6bln AMD in foreign exchange.
32% of the resident deposits or 276.9bln AMD were call deposits (1% drop in Aug 2012 and 8% growth as compared with Aug 2011), 68% or 590.4bln AMD time deposits (+3.8% and +39.9%, respectively).
The interest rates of AMD deposits grew by 0.3% in Aug 2012 and by 0.5% as compared with Aug 2011 to 9.76%.
