Financial ombudsman of Armenia may start protecting small and medium-sized businessmen
Arminfo. Financial ombudsman of Armenia may probably start dealing with complaints of consumers and small and medium-sized businessmen against financial organizations, representative of Armenia's Central Bank, Armenak Darbinyan, said at today's annual conference "Institute of Financial Ombudsman targeted at enhancing trust of citizens and increase of financial mediation" held in Yerevan. The conference will last till 10 October.
He said that today the financial ombudsman may take complaints only of individual persons - consumers of financial services.
He also added that today Central Bank highly appreciates the activity of the financial ombudsman, first of all, like a protector of the interests of consumers of financial services. "However, protection of consumers' interests has direct as well as intermediary influence at stability of the entire financial system especially in such a country as Armenia where business reputation of financial organizations was damaged earlier", - Darbinyan said. In this context, he added that by his activity the financial ombudsman has been promoting enhancing of the society's trust in financial institutes, and raising of the financial mediation level.
Armenia formed the first financial ombudsman office of the CIS on January 24, 2009, to protect bank clients and improve financial confidence of people.
