Extra capitalization is necessary for further development of the banking sector of Armenia, director general of VTB Bank (Armenia), Yuri Gusev, said at today's press-conference in Yerevan when commenting on reduction of the capital adequacy norm at several Armenian banks. He also added that today almost all the banks in Armenia have been functioning at the edge of the capital adequacy, for this reason, the capitalization of the whole system is unavoidable next year.

He said that there are too many banks in Armenia although the local economy is not so big.

When commenting on the position of the VTB bank in the matter of capitalization, he said that the bank also fixed the inner capital adequacy norm. For his part, senior vice-president of the bank, Mikhail Yakunin, added that in all the regions where VTB bank has offices, their key task is to observe all the norms.
