Number of individuals in customer base of Armenian markets up 22% over year
ArmInfo. By 1 Sept 2012 the customer base of the Armenian banking system numbered 1,445,448 individuals and 71,288 legal entities. The preliminary data of the Central Bank of Armenia, provided to ArmInfo by the National Statistical Service of Armenia, a total of 1,516,736 customers had 1,833,171 accounts in the Armenian banks (1,707,729 accounts of individuals and 125,442 accounts of legal entities).
The source says that over Aug 2012 the customer base of the Armenian banks grew by 2.2% or by 32,215 customers (20.9% y-o-y growth). The number of individuals was up 2.6% or by 31,861 customers (21.9% y-o-y growth), and the number of legal entities was down 0.5% or by 354 customers (3.3% y-o-y growth).
Over Aug 2012 the number of the accounts opened in Armenian banks rose by 3.4% or by 60,404 accounts (8.7% y-o-y decline); the legal entities' accounts dropped in number by 0.7% or by 875 accounts (10.6% y- o-y decline), and the individuals' accounts rose in number by 3.6% or by 59,529 accounts (8.6% y-o-y decline).
