Personal deposits in Armenian banks up 22.8% over Jan-Sept 2012
ArmInfo. Over Jan-Sept 2012, the personal deposits in Armenian banks were up 22.8% against 22.1% growth over Jan-Sept 2011.
According to the Ranking of Armenian Banks by the Agency of Rating Marketing Information (ArmInfo), over Q3 2012 personal deposits in Armenian banks grew by 5.5% against 5.9% growth over Q3 2011. By 30 Sept 2012, personal deposits totaled 685.9 bln AMD ($1.7 bln) in absolute terms.
By ArmInfo analysts' data, as compared to Jan-Sept 2011, the time deposits of individuals increased by 44.6%, and the call deposits - by 15.5%. In Q3 2012 the time deposits of individuals grew by 7.2% against 11.2% growth in Q2; the call deposits dropped by 1.2% against 1.6% growth in Q2. The comparative acceleration of the growth rates of time deposits is due to the rise of the deposit interest rates in the banks since the second half of 2010.
As of 30 Sept 2012, the biggest volume of personal deposits was fixed in HSBC Bank Armenia, which secured the summary volume of personal deposits (call liabilities and time deposits) at 90.6 bln AMD ($223 mln), with 51% of this amount being call liabilities and 49% time deposits. Unibank ranks next with 68.9 bln AMD, or $169.6 mln (with over 92% being time deposits). ArmBusinessBank is the third with 67.7 bln AMD, or $166.8 mln (over 92% time deposits); VTB Bank (Armenia) is the fourth with 62.8 bln AMD, or $154.5 mln (over 82% time deposits); Ardshininvestbank is the fifth with 54.4 bln AMD, or $133.8 mln (over 86% time deposits).
The top ten leading banks by this indicator include Ameriabank - 52.4 bln AMD (mostly time deposits), ACBA-Credit Agricole Bank - 52.3 bln AMD (mostly time deposits), Converse Bank - 34.2 bln AMD (mostly time deposits), Armenian Development Bank - 25.6 bln AMD (mostly time deposits), and Anelik Bank - 25.3 bln AMD (mostly time deposits). As of 30 Sept 2012, Armenian Development Bank (ADB), Unibank and HSBC Bank Armenia were in the lead by the share of personal deposits in total liabilities (62.1%, 58.2%, 52.9% respectively). The biggest growth in personal deposits versus Jan-Sept 2011 was demonstrated by Prometey Bank (more than twofold).
In the structure of personal deposits, HSBC Bank Armenia, Unibank and ArmBusinessBank secured over 33% of personal deposits: 13.2%, 10% and 9.9% respectively.
