HSBC Bank Armenia, Ameriabank and Ardshininvestbank top three banks in Armenia in terms of net profits for 9 months of 2012
ArmInfo. HSBC Bank Armenia, Ameriabank and Ardshininvestbank are top three banks in Armenia in terms of net profits for 9 months of 2012: 5.7 bln drams ($14.1 mln), 4.7 bln drams ($11.5 mln) and 3.239 bln drams ($8 mln), respectively. Ranking of Armenian Banks prepared by Agency of Rating Marketing Information (ArmInfo) says the 4th position in terms of net profits belongs to VTB Bank (Armenia) - 3.235 bln drams and the 5th to ACBA-Credit Agricole Bank - 3 bln drams.
Top five banks in terms of ROA were ARARATBANK - 3.14%, HSBC Bank Armenia - 2.99%, ArmSwissbank - 2.88%, INECOBANK - 2.70%, and Prometey Bank - 2.60%. Top five banks in terms of ROE were HSBC Bank Armenia - 17.15%, INECOBANK - 16.57%, ARARATBANK - 13.71%, Ameribank - 13.59%, and Artsakhbank - 13.24%.
Summary retained profit for 9 months of 2012 totaled 29.2 bln drams ($71.9 mln) falling 7.8% versus the same period of 2011. By balance sheets of 21 operating banks (given the merger of Cascade Bank and Ameriabank), 18 banks received a total profit of 33.5 bln drams for 9 months of 2012, amid 4.3 bln drams loss of 3 banks.
Total capital of the banking system grew 8.9% versus nine months of 2011, 1.5% for Q3 2012 to 393.3 bln drams ($968 mln) as of Sept 30 2012 as the statutory capital was replenished (7.4%) and reserve revaluation (12%). The quarterly growth was the result of profits growth (19.4%) and partial replenishment of the statutory capital (3.9%).
ACBA-Credit Agricole Bank became the leader in terms of the statutory capital in July 2011 and retains its leadership position- 30 bln drams. The bank invested the biggest share of profits and issue profits in capitalization in Q2 2011 and forced Ameribank to the second position (25.5 bln drams). HSBC Bank Armenia was up to the third position (18.4 bln drams), while Armbusinessbank was down to the fourth position (17.5 bln drams). Ardshininvestbank was on the 5th position - 15.5 bln drams.
