Number of active bankcards in Armenia up 33.2% to 963.8 thsd over year
ArmInfo. In October 2012 the Armenian banks issued a total of 37,709 cards (up 3.2% versus Oct 2011). As of 1 November 2012, there were 963.8 thsd active cards versus 732.6 thsd during the same period of 2011 (33.2% y-o-y growth).
Armenian Card told ArmInfo that over October 2012 the banks issued 13,831 ArCa cards (down 23.2% versus Oct 2011), 12,045 Visa cards (up 58.8%) and 11,833 MasterCards (up 8%).
Over Oct 2012 operations with 658.9 thsd cards were carried out (68% of the total number of the cards, 37.5% y-o-y growth), specifically, with 342.8 thsd ArCa cards (28.3% y-o-y growth, 73% of the active ArCa cards); 171.6 thsd Visa cards (40.5% y-o-y growth, 65% of the active Visa cards); 144.5 thsd MasterCards (60.6% y-o-y growth, 64% of the active MasterCards).
As of 1 Nov 2012, the number of POS-terminals in the Armenian Card system was 5890 (33.3% y-o-y growth), and the number of ATMs was 931 (17.8% y-o-y growth). All the ATMs accept local ArCa cards, 850 ATMs accept Visa cards, and 843 ATMs - MasterCards.
