Over Jan-Sept 2012 foreign debt of Armenia grew by 4.8% to $3.7 bln

Over Jan-Sept 2012 Armenia's foreign debt grew by 4.8% (up 1.2% over Q3 2012, up 6.4% versus Jan-Sept 2011) to $3740.783 mln (1519.7 bln AMD) or 86.7% of the total national debt (1752.966 bln AMD), the National Statistical Service of Armenia told ArmInfo. In the structure of the foreign debt, the share of the Government made up 84.1% or $3.2 bln, the share of the Central bank of Armenia (CBA) - $594.7 mln or 15.9%.
The debt to multilateral creditors made up 70.3%, or $2630.824 mln (6.3% growth over Jan-Sept 2012). In particular, the debt to the World Bank amounted to $1.5 bln, or 39% (9% growth over Jan-Sept 2012), the debt to the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) made up 5.8%, or $218.3 mln (up 44.9%), the debt to the International Development Association (IDA) grew by 4.5% to $1.2 bln, or 33.1%, the debt to the European Union (EU) made up 2.2%, or $84.1 mln (up 2.5-fold). The debt to IFAD was up 2.9% to $68.2 mln, or 1.8% of the total foreign debt, the debt to European Investment Bank grew by 66.9% to $6.5 mln, or 0.2%, the debt to the Asian Development Bank was up 11.3% to $184.1 mln, or 4.9%, the debt to the IMF dropped by 4.6% to $789.7 mln, or 21.1%, the debt to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) made up 0.4%, or $13.5 mln (down 1.2%), the debt to OPEC made up 0.7%, or $27.5 mln (down 2.9%).
The debt to the bilateral creditors made up 29.7%, or $1109.959 mln (1.6% growth over Jan-Sept 2012). In particular, the debt to the USA totaled $29.2 mln, or 0.8% of the total foreign debt, Japan - $394 mln, or 10.5%, France - $3.9 mln, or 0.1%, KBC Bank - $2.2 mln, or 0.1%, Germany - $173.7 mln, or 4.6%, Abu Dhabi Fund for Development - $4.2 mln, or 0.1%, Austria - $2.6 mln, or 0.1%, Russia - $500 mln, or 13.4%.
To note, the foreign debt was calculated on the basis of the AMD/USD exchange rate in the Armenian currency market as of 30 Sept 2012 (406.25 AMD/1USD).
