In Jan-Oct 2012 number of pawnshops in Armenia grew by 10 while that of exchange offices dropped by 13
ArmInfo. In Jan-Oct 2012 the number of pawnshops in Armenia grew by 10 to 144 while that of exchange offices dropped by 13 to 239.
The number of commercial banks has not changed since 2010 and is 22. 75.6% of their aggregate authorized fund is foreign capital. 17 banks are closed JSCs, 4 banks open JSCs, 1 bank LLC.
The number of credit companies grew by 1 to 32. 33.5% of their aggregate authorized fund is foreign capital.
As of Nov 1 2012 there were 7 insurance companies in Armenia. 4 of them had foreign shareholders. As of the same date there were 4 insurance brokers, no foreign exchange dealers and 30 securities brokers (1 more than on Oct 1 2011).
There have been no foreign exchange dealers in Armenia since May 2012. As of Nov 1 2012 there were 30 brokers on the securities market, of them 21 were banks and 9 companies.
Among the shareholders of Armenian banks are Russian, Ukrainian, Kazakh, US, French, German, British, Austrian, Swiss, Argentinean, Lebanese and Iranian companies as well as EBRD and IFC, among the shareholders of credit companies Latvian, US, British, French and Russian companies.
