Monetary base in Armenia down 2.8% for November 2012
ArmInfo. Monetary base in Armenia was down 2.8% (by 17.8 bln AMD) for November 2012 and totaled 623.7 bln AMD ($1.5 bln) by 1 December 2012. Preliminary data of the Armenian Central Bank, provided to ArmInfo by the National Statistical Service of Armenia, say that monetary base grew 5.5% as compared to November 2011.
In the structure of monetary base, cash circulating outside the Central Bank fell 0.6% against October 2012 and grew 10.3% against November 2011, having totaled 406.3 bln AMD (65.1% of the monetary base). The share of compulsory dram reserves in total monetary base made up 26% or 162.5 billion drams, having dropped by 4.6% against October 2012 and grown by 39.8% against November 2011. The share of compulsory foreign exchange reserves totaled 7.6% of total or 47.3 billion drams, having dropped by 12.1% against October 2012 and by 52% against November 2011.
The source reported that external reserves (exclusive of privatization funds) were down 1.4% against October 2012 and 15.7% against Nov 2011, having amounted to 377.5 bln AMD. Internal assets totaled 246.2 bln AMD (4.8% decline versus Oct 2012 and 71.8% growth versus Nov 2011). Capital requirement to the government totaled negative 102.2 billion drams falling by 15.1% against Oct 2012 and by 23.8% against Nov 2011. The share of banks in total internal assets was 149.3 billion drams (0.4% decline versus Oct 2012 and 49.9% growth versus Nov 2011).
In the structure of internal assets, REPO transactions grew by 17% versus Oct 2012 and almost 5 times versus Nov 2011, having amounted to 53.6 bln AMD.
