Growth rates of dollar and dram deposits with Armenian banks nearly equaled in November
ArmInfo. Deposits raised by Armenian commercial banks for Nov 2012 were up 2.2%, with a 30% growth versus Nov 2011, and totaled 1.201 billion drams ($2.964 billion).
The share of deposits in the Armenian dram in total was 30% or 360.1 billion drams ($888.5 million), the share of deposits in foreign exchange was 70% or $841.1 billion (2.075 billion drams). The share of deposits in drams was up 2.4% for Nov 2012 and 27% versus Nov 2011. Similar growth was registered in deposits in foreign exchange for Nov 2012 - 2%, with a 31.3% growth versus Nov 2011.
By preliminary data of the Armenian Central Bank provided to ArmInfo by the National Statistical Service of Armenia, the share of deposits of non-residents was 23.3% or 280.6 bln drams (2.7% growth in Nov and 45% versus Nov 2011). Bram deposits of non-residents grew 1.5% to 19.1 bln drams in Nov 2012 (with a 71.5% growth versus Nov 2011). The share of deposits of non-residents in foreign exchange grew 2.8% to 261.5 billion drams (43.5% growth versus Nov 2011).
Deposits of residents made up 76.7% of total or 920.6 billion drams (with a 2% growth for Nov 2012 and 26% growth versus Nov 2011), including 341 billion drams deposits in terms of Armenian dram (2.5% growth for Nov 2012 and 25.2% growth versus Nov 2011). Deposits of residents in foreign exchange totaled 579.6 billion drams (1.7% growth for Nov 2012 and 26.5% growth versus Nov 2011). The share of call liabilities in deposits of residents was 32.8% or 293.1 billion drams (0.1% growth for Nov, and 5,1% growth versus Nov 2011), the share of time deposits was 68.3% or 627.5 billion drams (3% growth in Nov and 38.9% growth versus Nov 2011).
Balance of population deposits as of Dec 1 2012 totaled 614.7 billion drams ($1.517 bln) growing 2.9% for Nov (17.5 mln drams) and 33.3% versus Nov 2011 (153.6 mln drams).
Interest rates on deposits in terms of Armenian dram were up by 0.15 points to 9.92% in Nov 2012 and by 0.64 points versus Nov 2011.
