AMD loans provided by Armenian banks by 1/3rd, and USD loans - by more than twofold
ArmInfo. From 4 to 10 March, Armenian banks provided loans worth 24.1 bln AMD (32.7% weekly decline) and $32.1 mln (more than twofold decline), the press service of the Central Bank of Armenia told ArmInfo.
According to the source, over the current week (11-15 March 2013) the banks bought $72.3 mln at the average exchange rate of 409.75 AMD/$1, and sold $83.9 mln at the average exchange rate of 411.76 AMD/$1 in the intrabank currency market (transactions with clients).
Over the same period the banks bought 5.8 mln EUR at the average exchange rate of 534.96 AMD/1 EUR and 528 mln RUR at the average exchange rate of 13.31 AMD/1 RUR, and sold 12.7 mln EUR at the average exchange rate of 537.94 AMD/1 EUR and 88.2 mln RUR at the average exchange rate 13.49 AMD/1 RUR.
Currency purchase and sale operations worth $66.6 thsd were carried out in the interbank currency market from 11 to 15 March. Over the given period currency purchase and sale operations worth $11.3 mln were carried out at the average exchange rate of 414.72 AMD/$1 at NASDAQ OMX Armenia; the biggest volume was registered on 14 March ($6.6 mln). No operations were registered in the stock exchange on March 12.
According to the CBA's data, as of Jan 1 2013, the total lending of the Armenian banking system amounted to 1.6 trillion AMD, or $4 bln (23% y-o-y growth, and 6.7% growth over Q4 2012 alone).
