In May 2013 AMD deposits in Armenian banks dropped by 0.1%, while foreign exchange deposits grew by 3.5%
ArmInfo. In May 2013 the deposits in the Armenian banks grew by 2.4% to 1.347 trln AMD by 1 June 2013. According to the preliminary data of the Central Bank of Armenia, provided to ArmInfo by the National Statistical Service of Armenia, as compared with the same period of 2012, the total amount of the bank deposits grew by 27.6%.
The source says that the share of AMD deposits made up 29.2%, or 394.1 bln AMD. In May 2013 this index declined by 0.1% (19.6% growth versus May 2012). The share of foreign exchange deposits made up 70.8%, or 953.2 bln AMD. In May 2013 this index grew by 3.5% (up 31.2% versus May 2012).
In the total structure of deposits the share of deposits of non-residents made up 24.5%, or 330.5 bln AMD. In May 2013 the given index grew by 6.4% (47.6% growth versus May 2012). The share of deposits of residents made up 75.5%, or 1.017 trln AMD (up 1.2% versus Apr 2013, up 22% versus May 2012). In the structure of deposits of residents, the share of call deposits was 22.2%, or 298.7 bln AMD, and the share of time deposits - 77.8%, or 718.1 bln AMD.
As of 1 June 2013, the balance of retail deposits amounted to 699.9 bln AMD (up 14% versus Apr 2013, up 31.6% versus May 2013).
By the data of the Central Bank of Armenia, in May 2013 the interest rates of AMD deposits rose by 0.03 points to 10.04% (up 0.9 points versus May 2012). As of 31 May 2013, the AMD/USD exchange rate was 417.22 AMD/$1.
