AMD deposits grew by 3% in Armenian banks amid slight decline of foreign exchange deposits in Oct 2013
ArmInfo. As of 1 November 2013, the deposits in Armenian banks totaled 1.457 trillion AMD (up 0.6% in Oct 2013, up 24% versus Oct 2012, and up 21.4% in Jan-Oct 2013).
According to the Armenian Central Bank's data provided to ArmInfo by the National Statistical Service of Armenia, as of 1 Nov 2013 the share of AMD deposits in the banks totaled 430.2 bln AMD or 29.5% (3% rise in Oct 2013, 22.4% rise versus Oct 2012, 17.3% rise in Jan-Oct 2013). In the meantime, the share of foreign exchange deposits made up 70.5% or 1.026.7 trillion AMD (down 0.2% in Oct 2013, up 24.6% versus Oct 2012, up 21.4% in Jan-Oct 2013).
In the structure of the deposits, the share of non-residents' deposits made up 25% or 364 bln AMD (up 1.4% in Oct 2013, up 33.2% versus Oct 2012, up 39% in Jan-Oct 2013). The share of residents' deposits constituted 75% or 1.093 trillion AMD (up 0.4% in Oct 2013, up 21% versus Oct 2012, and up 15% over Jan-Oct 2013).
In the structure of residents' deposits, the share of call deposits was 30% or 327.7 bln AMD, and the share of time deposits was 70% or 765.1 bln AMD. The call deposits dropped by 2.5% in Oct 2013, grew by 12% versus Oct 2012 and by 6.3% over Jan-Oct 2013. The time deposits rose by 1.8% in Oct 2013, by 25.5% versus Oct 2012, and by 19.2% over Jan-Oct 2013.
As of 1 Nov 2013, the balance of household deposits amounted to 749.2 bln AMD (up 2% in Oct 2013, up 25.4% versus Oct 2012, and up 17.3% in Jan-Oct 2013).
The Central Bank says that in October 2013 the AMD deposit rates dropped by 0.03 points (up 0.21 points versus Oct 2012, up 0.08 points in Jan-Oct 2013) and made up 9.98% by 1 November 2013. As of 31 Oct 2013, the AMD/USD exchange rate was 405.03 AMD/1$.
