Money base of Armenia up 30% in 2013
ArmInfo. By late 2013 the money base of Armenia rose by 30% as compared with 2012 and amounted to 888 bln AMD, In Q4 2013 this index grew by 23%.
According to the preliminary data of the Central Bank of Armenia (CBA), provided to ArmInfo by the National Statistical Service of Armenia, the share of foreign exchange required reserves made up 27% of the total money base or 238.8 bln AMD (almost 3-fold rise versus 2012, almost 2-fold growth in Q4 2013 alone). The share of AMD required reserves in the total money base made up 22.4% or 199 bln AMD (up 28.8% as compared with 2012, up 9.4% in Q4 2013).
In the structure of the money base the cash funds outside the CBA totaled 446.8 bln AMD (50.3% of the money base), having risen by 1.5% in 2013 as compared 2012. The growth for Q4 2013 was 9.5%.
The source says that as of 31 Dec 2013 the net international reserves amounted to 628.4 bln AMD (50.2% rise versus 2012, 7.4% decline in Q4 2013)mpared with Sept 2012). The net domestic assets dropped by 2.2% as compared with 2012 and grew almost 6-fold in Q4 2013, having totaled 259.6 bln AMD.
As of 31 December 2013, the AMD/USD exchange rate was 405.12 AMD/$1.
