On Feb 3-7 currency operations in Armenian interbank market dropped by 59.4%, and those at NASDAQ OMX Armenia grew 5-fold
ArmInfo. On 27 January-2 February 2014, Armenian banks provided AMD loans worth 46.6 bln AMD and USD loans worth $53.1 mln. The press service of the Central Bank of Armenia has told ArmInfo that as compared with the previous week, AMD loans rose by 7.3%, and USD loans dropped by 49.5%.
The source says that in the intrabank currency market (transactions with customers) the banks bought $60.9 mln on Feb 3-7 (down 40.1% versus the previous week) at the average exchange rate of 408.98 AMD/$1, and sold $74.2 mln (down 43.8%) at the average exchange rate of 410.25 AMD/$1. In the meantime, the banks bought 5.5 mln EUR (down 14.5%) at the average exchange rate of 551.89 AMD/1EUR, and sold 8.6 mln EUR (down 59.3%) at the exchange rate of 555.74 AMD/1EUR. The banks also bought 469.4 mln RUR (24.6% decline) at the average exchange rate 11.58 AMD/1RUR and sold 114.2 mln RUR (19.8% rise) at the exchange rate of 11.78 AMD/1RUR.
In the interbank currency market currency purchase and sale amounted to $2.1 mln at the average exchange rate of 410.02 AMD/$1 (59.4% decline). At NASDAQ OMX Armenia currency operations totaled $20.4 mln (5-fold rise) at the average exchange rate of 410.68 AMD/$1. The biggest amount of transactions was fixed on 4 and 7 February - $10.4 mln and $6 mln, respectively. No transactions were registered on Feb 5.
