On April 7-11 currency operations in Armenian interbank market declined by almost 71% amid 25.3% growth at NASDAQ OMX Armenia
ArmInfo. On 31 March-6 April 2014, Armenian banks provided AMD loans worth 42.9 bln AMD and USD loans worth $56.2 mln. The press service of the Central Bank of Armenia has told ArmInfo that as compared with the previous week, AMD loans rose by 31.5%, and USD loans - by 41.2%.
The source says that in the intrabank currency market (transactions with customers) the banks bought $78.6 mln on April 7-11 (down 5.4% versus the previous week) at the average exchange rate of 414.73 AMD/$1, and sold $82.9 mln (down 20.5%) at the average exchange rate of 415.93 AMD/$1.
In the meantime, the banks bought 5.024 mln EUR (down 39%) at the average exchange rate of 570.97 AMD/1EUR, and sold 9.088 mln EUR (down 5.2%) at the exchange rate of 574.08 AMD/1EUR. The banks also bought 594.2 mln RUR (0.6% decline) at the average exchange rate 11.59 AMD/1RUR and sold 115.996 mln RUR (9.2% rise) at the exchange rate of 11.70 AMD/1RUR.
In the interbank currency market currency purchase and sale amounted to $1.2 mln at the average exchange rate of 415.58 AMD/$1 (down 70.7%). At NASDAQ OMX Armenia currency operations totaled $7.850 mln (up 25.3%) at the average exchange rate of 415.60 AMD/$1. The biggest amount of transactions was fixed on 10 April - $5.5 mln. No transactions were registered at NASDAQ OMX Armenia on April 7.
