Armenian dram depreciates against US dollar 0.7% in April 2013, amid 0.03% year-over-year appreciation
ArmInfo. The Armenian national dram depreciated against US dollar 2.2% for Jan-Apr 2014 and 0.03% for April, the National Statistical Service reports. The exchange rate made up 414.3AMD/US$1versus 416.3 AMD/US$1 in April 2013 and 392 AMD/US$1 in Apr 2012. The source reports 2.7% depreciation of AMD against USD in Jan-Apr 2013 and 0.4% in Apr 2013 amid 6.2% year-over-year depreciation.
Inflation in the consumer market of Armenia made up 0.5% in April 2014 versus 1.7% in Dec 2013 and 4.4% in Apr 2013. For comparison, depreciation of the Armenian dram against US dollar for April 2013 totaled 0.1%. Inflation totaled 2.8% in Dec 2012. As compared to Apr 2012 inflation totaled 3.9%. In Jan- Apr 2012 inflation totaled 2.1% amid 2.3% depreciation of AMD against USD. Only in April 2012 consumer prices fell 0.6% amid 0.7% depreciation of AMD against USD. Inflation in Jan-Apr 2011 totaled 5% amid 3.6% depreciation of AMD against USD (in April 2011 the national currency depreciated 1.5% against USD amid 0.2% inflation).
According to the National Statistical Service, the national dram appreciated 0.1% against US dollar for 2013, in Dec the national dram depreciated 0,1% amid 5.6% inflation for 2013 (1.1% in Dec). In 2012 depreciation of the national dram against US dollar made up 5.9% and in Dec the national currency appreciated 0.3% amid 3.2% inflation in 2012 (in Dec inflation totaled 2.1%).
