Nominal wages in Armenia grew 6.4% over year due to public and private sectors
ArmInfo. In March 2014 the average monthly nominal salary in Armenia was 158.9 thsd AMD or $384 (up 6.4% versus March 2013). As compared with Feb 2014, the salary rose by 1.1%.
By the preliminary data of the Armenian National Statistical Service, the year-over-year growth in wages was due to the salary growth in both public and private sectors. As compared with March 2013, the wages in state-run organizations were up 4.8% to 136.9 thsd AMD in March 2014, and in private organizations the wages rose by 8.2% to 191 thsd AMD. As compared with Feb 2014, the wages dropped by 0.2% in state-run organizations and rose by 2.5% in private ones.
In terms of pay rate, as of 1 March 2014 the financial sector was in the lead with 351.9 thsd AMD (7.8% y- o-y growth). The information and communication sector ranks next with 327.5 thsd AMD (up 10.9%). Mining industry was the third with 304.4 thsd AMD (up 2%). Employees of the fields of culture, leisure and entertainment received the lowest wages - 87.7 thsd AMD (up 8.5%).
The wages in Syunik marz were the highest - 185.3 thsd AMD as of 1 March 2014 (8.7% y-o-y growth).In the Yerevan the average salary made up 171.9 thsd AMD (up 5.9%). Kotayk and Armavir ranked next with 135.6 thsd AMD (up 10.9%) and 133 thsd AMD (up 8.6%), respectively. The lowest salary was in Aragatsotn marz - 97.8 thsd AMD (up 9.9%).
In March 2014 the average AMD/USD exchange rate was 414.22 AMD/$1, and in Jan-Mar 2014 - 411.04 AMD/$1.
