Monetary base in Armenia was up 0.3% for May 2013, as dram component fell
ArmInfo. Monetary base in Armenia totaled 753 billion drams as of June 1 2014, with a 0,3 percentage points decline comparing to the previous month and 5.3% year-over-year growth. According to the preliminary data of the Armenian Central Bank provided by the National Statistical Service of Armenia, the monetary base fell as dram reserves fell 3.1% amid 1.1% growth of the foreign currency reserves.
The dram component of the monetary base fell 3.3% versus June 2013 to 183.7 bln drams or 24.4% of the total monetary base. The foreign currency component grew 48.1% y-o-y to 172.3 bln drams or 22.9% of total. Another component - cash outside the Central Bank of Armenia grew 3.1% for May, amid 2.6% y-o- y decline to 393.8 bln drams or 52/3% of the monetary base.
Net international reserves of Armenia totaled 506.6 bln drams with a 0.3% growth for May 2014 and 26.8% growth versus the same period of 2013. Internal assets amounted to 246.3 bln drams, with a 1.7% decline for June and 21.9% y-o-y decline. Capital requirement to the government are at a negative level - 141.9 bln drams (0.2% deterioration in May and 41.7% y-o-y).
The share of banks in total internal assets was 131.1 billion drams, with a 6.7% decline for May and 28.3% y-o-y decline. In the structure of the capital requirements to banks, REPO transactions totaled 31.5 bln drams, with a 38.8% decline for May ands 61.3% versus the same period of 2013.
