Armenian CB: Money supply in Armenia up 1.5% for May, amid 1.8% growth of dram supply
ArmInfo. Money supply in Armenia totaled 1.574 trillion drams on June 1 2014, with a 1.5% growth for May and 13.7% growth versus June 2013. According to the Central Bank of Armenia, the dram supply for the month under review grew 1.8%, amid 12.9% y-o-y growth to 821.3 bln drams.
According to the source, money supply grew in May, as all the components grew: disposable funds in the national dram (AMD) - b2.1%, deposits in terms of AMD - 1.6%, and deposits in USD - 1.3%. As compared to June 2013, the disposable funds in AMD fell 3.2% to 342 bln drams or 21.7% of the total money supply.
Deposits in AMD grew 28% over the year to 479.3 bln drams or5 30.4% of total money supply. The share of call liabilities in AMD deposits grew 0.5% for May, amid 19.6% y-o-y growth to 191.2 bln drams. Time deposits grew 2.3% (34.2% y-o-y) to 288 bln drams.
The share of foreign exchange deposits was 47.8% or 753.1 bln drams, with a 14.7% y-o-y growth. Call liabilities in foreign exchange deposits grew 3.3% for the month under review and 25.2% y-o-y to 173.7 bln drams. Time deposits grew 0.7% and 11.9%, respectively, to 579.3 bln drams.
Negative net foreign assets totaled 223.4 bln drams on June 1, with a 3% decline for May, and 1.2% y-o-y growth. Internal assets grew 0.9% and 12%, respectively, to 1.798 trillion drams. The capital requirements to the government totaled 522 mln drams, falling 75.7% for May. As compared to the same period of 2013, the negative indicator grew to the positive level. The share of economy was 2.009 trillion drams, with a 0.6% growth for May and 13.3% y-o-y growth. The share of non-financial organizations was 1.078 trillion drams (0.3% growth for May and 8.9% y-o-y growth), households - 857.7 bln drams (up 1.2% and 19%, respectively), non-commercial organizations - 43 bln drams (down 1.2% for May, amid 30.4% y-o-y growth). The share of other assets in the internal ones is still at the negative level b- 212.6 bln drams (down 3.1% for May and up 31.2% y-o-y). (The exchange rate for June 30 2014 was 413.28 AMD/1 USD).
