On Aug 19-23 currency operations at NASDAQ OMX Armenia and interbank market demonstrated almost similar growth
ArmInfo. On 11-17 Aug 2014, Armenian banks provided AMD loans worth 32.7 bln AMD and USD loans worth $52.1 mln. The press service of the Central Bank of Armenia has told ArmInfo that as compared with the previous week, AMD loans grew by 7.5%, and USD loans - by 65.9%.
The source says that in the intrabank currency market (transactions with customers) the banks bought $94.2 mln on Aug 19-23 (up 7.7% versus the previous week) at the average exchange rate of 407.46 AMD/$1, and sold $114 mln (up 9%) at the average exchange rate of 408.55 AMD/$1. In the meantime, the banks bought 6 mln EUR (up 13.2%) at the average exchange rate of 541.14 AMD/1EUR, and sold 13.5 mln EUR (up 5.4%) at the exchange rate of 555.11 AMD/1EUR. The banks also bought 1.1 mln RUR (up 9.7%) at the average exchange rate 11.20 AMD/1RUR and sold 124.9 mln RUR (up 6.2%) at the exchange rate of 11.35 AMD/1RUR.
In the interbank currency market currency purchase and sale amounted to $2.250 mln at the average exchange rate of 408.61 AMD/$1 (up 60.7%). At NASDAQ OMX Armenia currency operations totaled $15.580 mln (up 73.3%) at the average exchange rate of 408.10 AMD/$1. The biggest amount of transactions was fixed on 20 and 22 August - $7.080 mln and $5 mln, respectively. No transactions were fixed on August 21 and 23.
