The food prices have decreased in July 2015 in Armenia for 4.1% (or 4.6% without alcohol and cigarettes). As has been stated at the press conference by Gurgen Martirosyan, Head of the price statistics and international comparisons of the National Statistics Service of RA, the deflation of July is mainly conditioned by cheapening of vegetables and potatoes, eggs and fruits for 29.1-0.2% . Out of the
13 groups of goods under investigation 11 of them had a price drop during the reporting period for 29.18-0.2%, and no change has been recorded in one.
The fruit price dropped for 11.1 % in annual break-down, and 29.1% only in July. Particularly, the water- melons cheapened for 66.9%, apricots - 63.5%, apples - 43.8%, cherry - 26.2%, oranges - 4.9%, bananas - 0.3%. At the same time, the prices rose for the dried fruits for 3.7%, strawberry - 7.4%, lemons - 9.3%. The fruit prices dropped in all cities and towns of the country under investigation
during the reporting month for 37.4-22.3% and for 29.7 in Yerevan.
The group of cheapened vegetables, which have cheapened for 9% in an annual break-down and for 10.7% during July, the following were leading the scores: aubergines for 69.7%, beet - 35.5%, green beans - 29.3%, cauliflower - 26.7%, pepper - 26%, carrots - 25.9%, tomatoes - 22.7, cabbage - 19.2%, lettuce - 12.6%, mushrooms - 1.8%, onion - 1.4%. In parallel, the following vegetables appreciated in value: bulb onion for 1%, potatoe - 3%, garlic for 8.8%. The vegetables prices dropped in all cities and towns of the country under investigation during the reporting month for 23.8-6.8% and for 7.7 in Yerevan. According to him, fruits, vegetables and potato, which makes 8.99% of the consumer basket have cheapened in general for 17.7%, having an impact of 1.53% on the deflation of July. The country average eggs price has increased for 2.5% compared to the same period of 2014 and for 5.3% in July. The eggs prices dropped in 9 of the cities and towns of the country under investigation during the reporting month for 9-2.5%, appreciated in value in two for 0.8-1.7%. The eggs prices dropped in Yerevan for 6% during the reporting period for 6%.
The country average granulated sugar prices have increased for 1.1% in the annual breakdown and dropped for 2.5% in July. The granulated sugar prices dropped in 10 of the cities and towns of the country under investigation during the reporting month for 3.7-0.1%, appreciated in value in one for 0.6% The granulated sugar cheapened in Yerevan for 2.8%. The diary products appreciated in value during
the year for 3%and cheapened for 1.8% in July mainly due to the price drop of Chanakh and Lori cheeses for 6.3% and 4.6% respectively, condensed milk - 4.1%.
The meat food have cheapened in July for 0.7%, whereas having annual appreciation of 2.4%. The July price drop was conditioned by cheapening of lamb for 2.7%, poultry meat - 2.3%, Khash parts - 2.2%,
chicken legs for 1.3%, beef - 0.6%. At the same time pork has appreciated for 1.5%. The meat food prices dropped in 9 of the cities and towns of the country under investigation during the reporting
month for 2.9- 0.3%, appreciated in value in two for 0.1-0.3%. The meat food prices dropped in Yerevan for 0.7%. The prices for the fishery products have dropped for 0.4%, bakery - 0.3%, fats of animal
and vegetable origin - 0.2%, coffee, tea cacao for 0.2%. At the same time, the prices for alcohol and cigarettes have risen throughout the country, pastry for 2.0% and 0.3%, respectively. The prices for
non-alcoholic beverages have not changed.
To note: the consumer market of Armenia underwent deflation in July 2015 of 2.2% (at the annual inflation of 4.2%), and a deflation of 2.2% during the period January - July (at an annual inflation of 5%).
