
ArmInfo. On Feb 12, Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan received a Czech delegation headed by Czech Minister of Industry and Trade Jan Mladek.
The press office of the Armenian Government has told ArmInfo that Abrahamyan stressed the importance of the guests' visit, saying that such visits intensify and strengthen the Armenian-Czech ties. He also expressed hope that the Armenian-Czech business forum, which kicked off in Yerevan on Feb 11, will reveal the opportunities for development of the bilateral relations and determine new priorities in cooperation. Abrahamyan stressed that Armenia gives high priority to consistent development of the ties with the Czech Republic in the areas of mutual interest.
Jan Mladek, in turn, praised the bilateral cooperation and pointed out that representatives of nearly 30 Czech companies are participating in the business forum in Yerevan. He added that the Czech Republic seeks to implement investment projects in a variety of areas, including energy. The matter concerns supply of necessary equipment to the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant. The relevant negotiations are already underway. He hopes that the agreements to be reached during the upcoming session of the Armenian-Czech Intergovernmental Commission in Prague in April 2016 will create new prerequisites for further promotion of the bilateral trade and economic cooperation. Hovik Abrahamyan stressed the importance of resumption of the Yerevan-Prague flights. Jan Mladek said that the flights will be resumed in May 2016 and they will be carried out twice or thrice a week.
The sides also discussed the possibility of the Czech companies' involvement in the free trade areas, cooperation in various sectors, including IT.
The meeting also covered issues related to the EU-Armenia relations. Abrahamyan said that Armenia is consistently developing its relations with the EU and that the talks on a new framework agreement are underway. The Czech minister, in turn, expressed willingness to contribute to the deepening of the Armenia-EU relations and visa liberalization.
