ArmInfo. After the April aggression unleashed by Azerbaijani the issue of having national air carrier has become even more urgent for Armenia, Chairman of the Public Council of Armenia Vazgen Manukyan stated at the session of Air Transport Policy Sub- Committee.
The session touched upon the problems of civil aviation in Armenia and ways to solve them. Vazgen Manukyan stressed the importance of the discussed topic emphasizing the necessity of involving wide sections of the population in discussions. Gagik Makaryan, Chairman of the Republican Union of Employers of Armenia, who also attended the session noted the necessity to attach strategic significance to the civil aviation.
To recall, on October 23, 2013, the Armenian government approved the program implying provision of competitive and long- term air transportation services in the country. The program is based on a joint study of McKinsey & Company and National Competitiveness Foundation of Armenia. The program was developed after bankruptcy of national air carriers- Armenian Airlines, Armavia, Air Armenia.
