Rostov Oblast and Republic of Armenia to sign a cooperation agreement

ArmInfo. Rostov Oblast of  Russia and the Republic of Armenia will sign a cooperation agreement,  the press office of Rostov Governor's Office reports.

The source says that the agreement will be signed in Q4 2016 on the  sidelines of the fifth Russian- Armenian interregional forum in  Yerevan. The relevant arrangement was reached between Governor Vasily  Golubev and Armenian Consul General to Rostov-on-Don Vardan Asoyan.  The promising sectors for development of the bilateral relations are  agriculture, energy and transport.

In 2015, the foreign trade turnover with the Republic of Armenia  amounted to $58.4 mln (25% more than in 2014). The source notes that  exports to Armenia grew by 42.4% in 2015. Vardan Asoyan thinks that  the share of imports from Armenia to Rostov Oblast is too small -  $2.3 mln in 2015. Vasily Golubev pointed out the need to improve the  situation, suggesting mutual visits of delegations from the business  circles of the countries. Asoyan, in turn, pointed at the exemplarity  interethnic relations in Rostov Oblast. "The representatives of over  150 nationalities are working side by side to develop the Russian  state," he said.  "The Armenian community in Rostov Oblast is one of  the largest communities and it takes an active part in the public and  political life of the region," Vasily Golubev said for his part.
