ArmInfo. Renewable energy development program will be developed in Armenia by 2017 and its implementation will start from 2018, reads the program of the government, which will be presented to the Armenian parliament on October 20.
According to the plan power saving systems will be installed in new buildings and modernized apartment houses, which will be used starting from 2018. In 2017-2019 it is planned to build a number of solar power stations. Besides in 2017-2018 when engineering survey works end, investment program will be developed on constructing geometric power station near Karkar populated locality.
A program of events aimed at softening consequences of drop of world prices on products of mining industry will be developed. In 2017 Armenia will submit application to the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI).
The government intends to finish the program on extending life cycle of Armenian NPP Unit 2 as scheduled, as well as to hold negotiations with potential investors on construction of a new nuclear power unit. It is planned to finish construction of Iran-Armenia and Armenia-Georgia power transmission lines in 2019.
