Armenian Prime Minister and Georgian Ambassador discuss trade and economic cooperation

ArmInfo. Armenian Prime  Minister Karen Karapetyan received today Ambassador Extraordinary and  Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Georgia to the Republic of Armenia  Giorgi Saganelidze.

The press office of the Armenian Government reports that pleased with  the current level of political dialogue between Armenia and Georgia,  the Prime Minister said more vigorous efforts are needed to overhaul  economic cooperation and tap the existing potential.

Giorgi Saganelidze stressed that the Armenian-Georgian relations are  based on centuries-old friendship between the two nations and that  Georgia is interested in developing mutually beneficial cooperation  with our country.

During the meeting, the interlocutors discussed a broad range of  issues high on bilateral cooperation agenda. In particular, they  exchanged views on the joint projects and future plans in energy,  logistics, transportation and other areas.

To note, according to the National Statistics Service of Armenia, in  Jan-Sept 2016 the total commodity turnover between Armenia and  Georgia amounted to $185.6 mln (up 35.4% versus Jan-Sept 2015).  Exports made up $110 mln (up 26.9%), while imports totaled $75.6 mln  (up 50%).
