ArmInfo. The growth in jewelry sector of Armenia inspires hope but the potential of the sphere is not used completely. This was stated on April by Souren Karayan, the Minsiter of Economic Development and Investments at his meeting with jewelry sector entrepreneurs.
According to the press office of the entity, Souren Karayan accentuated that the regular meeting with representatives of business community is a good opportunity to discuss the dimensions of further development of the sector. The representatives of the sector presented to the Minister the first priority tasks related first to excise duty marking, registration at new markets, customs procedures settlement. The
Minister offered to discuss the issue of "sole window" principle implementation at the airports, which will allow to simplify essentially the activities of jewelry companies, stating the importance of Arm,enia jewelry promotion at international markets. Simon Kafalyan, the Director of Agobian Jewelry Company mentioned that today meeting is already third of fourth. " Every time after such meetings something changes. And the implementation of sole window rule could really be useful," the entrepreneur stated adding that this year the company will increase the production volumes.
According to Armenia National Statistics Service, in 2016 jewelry production increased for 97,7%, up to AMD 36.3 bln, versus 61% a year earlier.
