Gazprom to increase gas volumes in Armenian underground storage facilities

ArmInfo. The Gazprom Management  Committee instructed the relevant subdivisions and subsidiaries to  increase volumes of gas in the underground storage of Armenia in the  amount of 0.13 billion cubic meters by early autumn of 2017.

According to the press service of the Russian gas holding company,  additional volumes of stored gas are needed to ensure reliable  operation of the unified gas supply system in the autumn-winter  period 2017- 2018, and after 2018.

Underground reserves were also commissioned to create on the  territory of Belarus (in the volume of 1.09 billion cubic meters) and  Russia (and 72.184 billion cubic meters).

To recall, there is an underground gas storage (UGS) in Armenia,  which is a part of the gas transportation system of Armenia. UGS is  built in deposits of rock salt at a depth of about 750-1050 meters.  In 2007, in the vicinity of the village of Zovuni, a brine storage  facility with a volume of 150,000 m3 was built and a 7,5 km long  salting line will be laid. Investments amounted to about $ 1.42  million.
