Premier: Villagers affected by natural disasters by 80-100%, debts  will be written off

ArmInfo. Farms in Armenia, who  suffered from hail, mud, drought and frost during the year, will  receive assistance in the form of cancellation of arrears for land  and irrigation taxes. This was stated by Prime Minister of Armenia  Karen Karapetyan at a government meeting on August 3.According to the  prime minister, the government should render assistance to the  villagers, who suffered from natural disasters. 

In this connection, the head of the government instructed the  Minister of Agriculture Ignaty Arakelyan and the Minister of  Territorial Administration and Development David Lokyan, the Chairman  of the State Water Management Committee Arsen Harutyunyan, and the  regional governors to take the necessary steps in a month's time so  that farmers who suffered damage from natural disasters in 80 % And  more, cede land tax and irrigation fees, as well as amounts for the  purchase of seeds provided under state programs.

Earlier, Minister of Agriculture of Armenia Ignaty Arakelyan asked  whether compensation will be given to the communities affected by the  hail, said that the financial damage in agriculture or the lost  profit due to natural and climatic conditions for 2016 is estimated  at 32-36 billion drams. "Therefore, until the insurance system is  introduced in Armenia, there will not be an opportunity to compensate  for it, nor will it be possible to talk about a more comfortable life  for farmers," the minister said, adding that a pilot agricultural  insurance program has been launched in Armenia in 2018 And  installation of anti-hail networks.
