ArmInfo. "Why is the construction on the Yerevan-Sevan highway so protracted?", Prime Minister of Armenia Karen Karapetyan asked at a government meeting on August 10.
"On the road there is one site, passing by which in this hot summer time, you do not see a single builder - not in the morning hours, not in the evening," he protested.
In response, Gagik Grigoryan, Deputy Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technologies, said that at this stage, the bridge is under repair. "One section of the bridge has been renovated, the other - is nearing completion," he said. Work on other sections of the route will begin after August 26. "And if everything is already done on the bridge, why do not you open the bridge?" Karapetyan said.
To note, on June 27 at the budget hearings in the parliament Gagik Grigoryan, the first deputy minister of transport, communications and information technologies of Armenia, stated that the North-South motorway is being built ahead of schedule. According to him, instead of the planned 17.3 billion AMD, already 24 billion AMD have been spent. Work on the first tranche (Tranche 1), envisaged for the Yerevan-Artashat and Yerevan-Ashtarak sections, has been completed almost completely, while the work Ashtarak-Talin (Tranche2) is still under way. In the third section (Tranche 3) of Talin-Gyumri excavation work is carried out and a trial laying of concrete is under way.
The bridge adjoining the city of Hrazdan on the Yerevan-Sevan interstate highway was designed and built at the end of 1960, the total length of the bridge is 29.5 meters. Until recently, the bridge was in an emergency condition. Since 2016, work began on the capital repair of the bridge.
