ArmInfo. Acquired by the  airline "Taron Avia" in leasing the airliner "Boeing 737-500" at the  first stage will carry out flights to a number of Russian cities. In  winter, the airline's geography of flights will be expanded. About  this corr. Karen Karagezyan, Deputy Director for Commerce of Taron  Avia Airlines, told ArmInfo.

According to him, the airliner will fly to the Russian cities of  Rostov, Samara, Rostov-on-Don, Krasnodar and Moscow. In the winter,  the airline will start executing flights in other directions as well.

On the eve of August 31, the second plane of the Taron Avia-Boeing  737-500 aircraft landed at the Shirak airport, the second most  important city in Armenia-Gyumri. The airliner will bear the name of  the great composer Aram Khachaturian. The first airliner bears the  name of People's Artist of the USSR Mher Mkrtchyan. According to  Sergey Avetisyan, the head of the Civil Aviation Administration of  the Republic of Armenia, the acquisition of another airliner may mean  the development of the airport "Shirak". "The growth of passenger  traffic can contribute to this to a large extent," stressed Sergey  Avetisyan.

Earlier, the press service of the GDCA circulated a message according  to which Yerevan Zvartnots airport and Gyumri Shirak served 1,373,856  passengers in January-July 2017, which is 28% more than the same  indicator in 2016. It was also reported that the GDCA is negotiating  to increase the number of flights and operation of large airliners,  including the Boeing 777. It is designed for 364 passenger seats.

The purchased passenger plane "Boeing 737 - 500" is the smallest  representative of the classic family of Boeing-737 aircraft. It  features a shortened fuselage and a flight range compared to the  basic model of the Boeing 737-300 series and is designed for 132  passenger seats.
