ArmInfo. In Armenia, works   began on upgrading the electric substation "Akhtanak", "Charentsavan  -3" and "Vanadzor-1." This was reported by the press service of the  Ministry of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources of the  Republic of Armenia.

According to the source, the projects are being  implemented with credit resources from the International Bank for  Reconstruction and Development. Within the framework of the program,  construction work on the reconstruction of the electric substation  "Akhtanak" in 220 kV was started. The process of modernization of the  electric substations Charentsavan-3 in 110 kV and Vanadzor-1 in 110  kV is at the stage of preparation for construction works.

Vardan Martirosyan, the head of the credit and grant programs  department of the Ministry of Energy Infrastructures and Natural  Resources of the Republic of Armenia, said that the main goal of the  program is to increase the reliability and throughput of the  electricity sector, and reduce losses in the system.  Recall that  following the results of the international tender, agreements were  signed with companies that became general contractors of projects.  Thus, Kaskad-Energo LLC modernizes the substation Akhtanak, EFACEC  Engenharia e Sistemas, S.A - the Charentsavan -3 substation and the  company Xian Electric Engineering Co., Ltd. - the substation Vanadzor  - 1. "Consultations on all three projects are carried out by the  German company .The entire program is planned to be  completed by the end of 2018.

As ArmInfo reported earlier, on November 13, 2014, the Board of  Directors of the World Bank approved a $ 40 million credit program  aimed at the modernization of three electric substations - Akhtanak,  Charentsavan -3 and Vanadzor-1. The total cost of the program is $ 50  million, of which $ 10 million will be provided by the Armenian  government. The funds of $ 40 million were provided through the WB  structure in the person of the International Bank for Reconstruction  and Development with a maturity of 25 years, with a grace period for  payments in the first 10 years and a floating interest rate.
