Armenia increased electricity exports by 9.9%

ArmInfo. In the first  eight months of 2017, Armenia increased electricity exports by 9.9%.  In total, 955 million kWh were exported. electricity compared to 868  million kWh. for the same period of the previous year. This was  reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy  Infrastructures and Natural Resources of the Republic of Armenia.

According to the source, most of the exported electricity was  directed to the Iranian market. The supply of electricity to Georgia  was restored, and the power system of which was not supplied with  electricity in 2016. In general, 116 million kWh were exported to the  Georgian market. electricity. This became possible due to the  agreement signed in February 2017 between Energoimpex CJSC and Global  International Energy Corporation, which allowed to optimize the modes  of production and consumption of energy.

During the reporting period, 805 million kWh of electricity was  supplied to the Iranian market. It is expected that in the near  future the pace of supply will intensify. It is planned to increase  the volume of Armenian electricity supplies to Iran by 20% by the end  of the year.

At the domestic market of Armenia for 8 months of 2017 was consumed   4.1 billion kWh. electricity, which is 276 million kWh. or 7.2% more  than in the same period in 2016.
