ArmInfo. At present, in Armenia, the urgent task in the field of consumer protection is to strengthen and develop the regulatory and legal framework for this sphere, establish business and partnership relations between government agencies and business on its basis in order to effectively protect the domestic consumer. The Minister of Economic Development and Investments of Armenia Suren Karayan stated this in his welcoming speech on April 6 at the 14th meeting of the Advisory Council on Consumer Rights Protection of the CIS member states in Yerevan.
According to the Minister, since its accession to the Agreement of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the Republic of Armenia has been actively participating in the work of the CIS member states in creating interstate agreements and normative-legal documents, establishing cooperation and exchanging successful experience between the authorized state bodies of our countries. Today, as he noted, the protection of consumers' rights is becoming increasingly important as an important component of the state's economic and social policy. "In conditions when the processes of sustainable economic development are going on, a free market and competition have been created, and business entities are increasingly interested in fully satisfying the demands of citizens, protecting the rights and interests of consumers, and organizing the proper operation of commercial enterprises on a legal basis are becoming increasingly important" , - said Karayan.
According to the Minister of Economy and Development and Investments, the Armenian government is taking measures to create an effective system for protecting the rights of consumers, including the best world experience, including the implementation of a coordinated policy in the field of compliance with the requirements established by technical regulations and metrological standards, and rules within the CIS and the EAEU. Serious work is carried out to optimize the structure and functions of controlling bodies, there is a reduction in their number and simultaneous increase in the efficiency of their work. In the work to protect consumer rights, as Karayan said, the role of specialized public organizations, whose number in the country has reached 14, will continue to grow.
At the same time, according to the head of the department, the parties should take into account the need to apply digital technological solutions that make it possible to use modern and convenient tools for ensuring the legal turnover of goods in the states and protecting consumer rights, one of which are tracking mechanisms and marking of goods. Such tools will also reduce the burden on the business by applying modern tools for analyzing large data and reducing the amount of required reporting.
Today the 14th, annual meeting of the Advisory Council on Consumer Rights Protection of the CIS Member States started in Yerevan. The purpose of the event is to present the steps taken by the Commonwealth member states, to develop common actions based on the best international experience aimed at solving existing problems in the field of consumer protection.
