ArmInfo. In January-April, the metallurgical industry of Armenia demonstrated an annual decline of 14.4%, against growth of 9.4% in January-April 2017. According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, in the reporting period the production of ferromolybdenum in Armenia decreased by 34.6% per annum, amounting to 2,439 tons, against growth of 34.6% a year earlier. Only in April ferromolybdenum was produced 545 tons, which is 45.3% less than the March volume.
In the first four months, the production of molybdenum concentrate increased by 1% per annum - up to 3,694 tons, against growth of 11.1% a year earlier. Only in April the production of molybdenum concentrate decreased by 10.6% - up to 898 tons. The production of converter (rough) copper declined in annual terms by 0.9% to 3,914 tons (against the 7.7% decline a year earlier), with a monthly growth of 15.6% to 895 tons. The production of copper concentrate decreased by 18.5% - to 111 thousand tons, against growth of 9.1% a year earlier. In monthly terms (April to March), copper concentrate production increased by 0.4% to 28.6 thousand tonnes. The production of zinc concentrate increased during the reporting period by 41.1% per annum to 4,015 tons, against 33.4% growth a year earlier. In April, the production of zinc concentrate increased by 4.2% to 1,230 tons.
The production of aluminum foil for the reporting period increased by 9% per annum - up to 10,832 tons, against the 0.5% growth a year earlier. In April, the volume of aluminum foil production decreased by 43.4% to 1,872 tons. The production of steel pipes in the reporting period of 2018 increased by 3.9% per annum to 3,029 tons (against 67.8% a year earlier), but only in April a decline of 45.8% was registered - up to 493 tons.
Data on the production of molybdenum briquettes and aluminum rolled products in the statistics of the reporting period are absent.
All metals produced in Armenia are exported, mainly to Europe and the USA.
To recall, for 2017, the metallurgical industry of Armenia increased production by 11.3% per annum, against the 11.1% decline for 2016. In particular, the production of ferromolybdenum increased by 1.1%, molybdenum concentrate by 2.8%, copper concentrate grew by 10.3% in 2017, aluminum foil by 14.4%, aluminum rolled products up to 543 tons, steel pipes - by 36.2%, zinc concentrate - by 22.2%. At the same time, the production of converter (rough) copper declined by 6.7% in 2017.
