ArmInfo. For the first 9 months of 2018, the metallurgical industry of Armenia reduced production by 18.6% per annum, against 8.4% growth in the same period of 2017. According to the Statistics Committee of the Republic of Armenia, in January-September 2018, ferromolybdenum production in Armenia decreased by 0.4% compared to the same period of the previous year, making 4,986 tons. In September alone, 737 tons of ferromolybdenum were produced, which is 88% more than the August volume.
In Jan-Sep 2018 production of molybdenum concentrate decreased by 0.8% - to 8,340 tons, and in September alone, a decline of 30.3% was recorded - to 827 tons. Converter (rough) copper production declined in January-September by 2.5% to 8476 tons. At the same time, monthly production of converter (rough) copper decreased by 16.6% to 794 tons. Copper concentrate production fell in January-September by 22% - to 246.9 thousand tons, but in September alone, production amounted to 22.6 thousand tons, with a monthly decline of 24.4%.
Production of aluminum foil decreased in January-September by 7.4% per annum - to 22,490 tons, and in September alone, the production of aluminum foil decreased by 35.5% to 1,208 tons. The production of aluminum rolled products amounted to 156 tons, which is less than a year ago by 71.2%.
Production of steel pipes increased by 2.1% y-o-y in January-September - to 7 979 tons, but only in September decreased by 7.8% to 1035 tons.
The production of zinc concentrate increased by 21.2% per annum in January-September - to 8754 tons, of which 842 tons were produced in September (a decline of 14.9% over the month).
Data on the production of molybdenum briquettes in the statistics of the reporting period are not available.
All metals produced in Armenia are exported, mainly to Europe and the USA.
To recall in 2017, the metallurgical industry of Armenia increased its production by 11.3% per annum, against the 11.1% decline in 2016. In particular, ferromolybdenum production increased by 1.1%, molybdenum concentrate - by 2.8%, copper concentrate increased by 10.3% in 2017, aluminum foil - by 14.4%, rolled aluminum - by up to 543 tons, steel pipes - by 36.2%, zinc concentrate - by 22.2%. At the same time, production of converter (rough) copper decreased in 2017 by 6.7%.
