ArmInfo. In January-October 2018, the volume of cargo transportation in Armenia increased by 8% against the same period of 2017 to 24,238.4 thousand tons. Of these, 20,400.2 thousand tons (84.2% of the total volume) accounted for road transport, which increased by 7.8% in y-o-y terms. The data of the RA Statistical Committee testify to this.
According to the source, rail freight transportation during the reporting period increased by 13.4% - to 2,411.3 thousand tons. The main pipeline delivered 1,412 thousand tons of natural gas, which is 3% more than in the same period last year. At the same time, air transportation decreased by 20% - to 14.9 thousand tons. Freight turnover increased by 6.5% - to 3,551.5 million tons-km.
Passenger traffic during the reporting period decreased by 7.3% - to 153,758.9 thousand people, which was largely due to a decrease in road traffic by 9.8% - to 131,207.1 thousand people. At the same time, passenger transportation by electric transport increased by 11.1% - up to 19 803.4 thousand people, railway - by 5.9% to 331.7 thousand people, air - by 12.2% to 2 416.7 thousand people. Passenger traffic decreased by 5% - to 2,094.9 million passenger-km.
