Taking into account the low inflationary environment that has been formed, while maintaining a broad monetary policy, the Central Bank of Armenia will probably not change the refinancing rate in the coming months. On December 18 at a press conference, member of the Board of the Central Bank of Armenia Artur Stepanyan stated this.
"But future events can correct our future activities, namely in the second half of next year. In this regard, I believe that we will continue to pursue an extensive monetary policy. In the case of risks of deviation of inflation and economic development from the projected scenario, the Central Bank will adjust monetary conditions accordingly, in order to ensure price stability, "he noted.
Recall that from February 2017 to the present day, the Central Bank of Armenia maintains the refinancing rate at 6%. Along with this, the rates on Lombard repos are kept - 7.5% and Deposits attracted from banks - 4.5%. Prior to this, the refinancing rate was revised in 2017 on February 14, when it was reduced from 6.25% to 6%, in parallel with that, the Lombard repo rates decreased from 7.75% to 7.5% and deposits attracted from banks - from 4.75% to 4, 5%.
