ArmInfo.Aluminum foil production in Armenia in January- November 2018 declined by 12% y-o-y (against growth of 15.8%) reaching 26,714 tons. According to the RA Statistics Committee, in November alone, the production of aluminum foil decreased by 8.9% to 2004 tons.
The output of rolled aluminum in January-November amounted to 156 tons, which is lower than the same period last year by 71.2%, against a substantial increase a year earlier.
According to the RA Customs Service, in the first half of 2018, Armenia exported 16.7 thousand tons of aluminum foil with a y-o-y growth of 4.4% (compared to last year's 6.5% growth). In monetary terms, the export of foil increased by 16.1% per annum - up to $ 54.8 million. Foil was mainly exported to the USA (38.2%) and Germany (37%), as well as to the Netherlands (8.7%), Poland (5.6%), Canada (5.1%), Austria (4, 4%), UK (1.8%), and to a lesser extent to France, Italy, the Czech Republic, the Russian Federation.
At the same time, Armenia sharply increased the volume of imported foil - 4.1-fold - to 2.1 thousand tons, against a decline of 16.6% a year earlier. The customs value of imported foil increased 3.6-fold to $ 7.5 million. The foil was imported from the USA (56%), Greece (36%), Russia (5.6%), China (1.4%), Ukraine (0, 2%), as well as from Poland and Lebanon.
