ArmInfo. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) together with the Ministry of Economic Development and Investments of the Republic of Armenia intend to develop mechanisms for the development of tourism in Armenia.
A relevant agreement was reached during the meeting of RA Minister of Economic Development and Investments Tigran Khachatryan with the ADB delegation. According to the press service of the Ministry, during the meeting, the parties discussed joint programs in the field of tourism and opportunities for cooperation, in particular in the field of technological innovations. The Minister discussed the prospects of creating an information tourism platform with the venture capital advisor Klaus Felsinger. Khachataryan stressed that tourism is a priority, and technological innovation approaches can increase the competitiveness of the field, the quality and availability of the services provided.
To note, according to the strategy for 2014-2018 ADB was supposed to provide Armenia with about $ 500 million. It is not announced which part of this amount phas been provided and implemented. Funds were sent to supporting infrastructure, energy and social services to promote flexible, inclusive and stable development of the country. In the field of transport, ADB continues to assist in the construction of the North-South transport corridor, as well as in strengthening transport links between cities with high levels of poverty. Armenia joined ADB in 2005 and is in the group of countries with mixed (concessional and conventional) financing.
