ArmInfo.Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan held a meeting on the development of the wine industry on February 6.According to the press service of the Prime Minister, Nikol Pashinyan noted that the wine industry is one of the most actively developing sectors of the economy. At the same time, according to the head of the government, there is a problem with the representation of Armenian wine in foreign markets.
The problem, as pointed out by Pashinyan, may also be due to the small production scale. According to him, often the Armenian wine does not find its buyer, not because of the high price, but the limited supply volumes.During the discussion, the Prime Minister was informed that in the field of winemaking there have been positive developments recently, which led to an increase in exports. In particular, in 2017 in the republic 9 million 7 thousand liters of wine were produced against 7 million liters in 2016.
Export volumes reached 2.7 million liters, an increase of about 1 million liters compared to 2016.Representatives of the sphere presented their suggestions and problems. Ways of attracting investments, the procedure and terms of crediting winemaking companies, tax regulation, programs for introducing drip irrigation, and other measures related to increasing productivity were discussed.Concluding the meeting, Pashinyan once again stressed the importance of the development of winemaking and noted readiness for periodic meetings with the aim of solving the pressing problems of the industry.
