ArmInfo. Electricity generation in Armenia in 2018 amounted to 7,776.9 million kWh, with an y-o-y growth of 0.2% against a growth of 6.1% in 2017. Only in December, the volume of generated electricity decreased by 0.7% to 671.5 million kWh.
According to the RA Statistics Committee, for 2018 TPPs increased electricity generation by 17.5% per annum - up to 3,375.6 million kWh., Hydropower plants - by 2.2% to 2,318.2 million kWh. Armenian NPP reduced electricity generation by 20.7% to 2,076.1 million kWh. During the reporting period, 40.1 thousand gigadjoules of thermal energy were produced, with an y-o-y growth of 31%. Wind power plants produced 1.9 million kWh of electricity, with an y-o-y decline of 9.5%. During the reporting period, solar power plants produced 5.1 million kWh of electric power, which is 12.8 fold more than a year ago.
To note, the generation of electricity in Armenia in 2017 amounted to 7,762.9 million kWh, with an y-o-y growth of 6.1%. TPPs increased electricity generation by 11.2%, hydropower stations reduced electricity generation by 3.5%, and the Armenian NPP increased electricity generation by 10%.
