ArmInfo.In 2018, the metallurgical industry of Armenia reduced production by 23% per annum, against 11.3% growth in 2017. According to the Statistics Committee of the Republic of Armenia, in 2018 ferromolybdenum production in Armenia compared to 2017 increased by 10.4%, making 7,275 tons. In December alone, ferromolybdenum produced 712 tons, which is 13.1% less than in November.
In January-December 2018, the production of molybdenum concentrate increased by 1.4% - to 11,110 tons, and only in December an increase of 4.4% was recorded - to 901 tons. The production of converter (draft) copper decreased in 2018 by 26.7% to 8,831 tons. Copper concentrate production decreased in 2018 by 25.9% - to 317.4 thousand tons, but only in December the production volume amounted to 25.7 thousand tons, with a monthly increase of 46%.
Aluminum foil production in 2018 compared with 2017 decreased by 14.5% to 28,359 tons. In December alone, the production of aluminum foil decreased by 17.9% to 1 645 tons. The production of rolled aluminum in 2018 decreased by 69.8% - to 164 tons.
Production of steel pipes decreased in January-December 2018 by 3.5% to 10,540 tons, with a monthly increase of 13.7% to 889 tons.
In 2018, production of zinc concentrate increased by 12.3% per annum - to 10,828 tons, of which 718 tons accounted for December, with a monthly increase of 2.2 times.
All metals produced in Armenia are exported, mainly to Europe and the USA.
To recall, in 2017, the metallurgical industry of Armenia increased its production by 11.3% per annum, against the 11.1% decline in 2016. In particular, ferromolybdenum production increased by 1.1%, molybdenum concentrate - by 2.8%, copper concentrate increased in 2017 by 10.3%, aluminum foil - by 14.4%, rolled aluminum - at times to 543 tons, steel pipes - by 36.2%, zinc concentrate - by 22.2%. At the same time, production of converter (draft) copper decreased in 2017 by 6.7%.
