ArmInfo. In 2018, 0.51% of mobile users in Armenia faced attacks from banking Trojan programs, while in 2017 their share was only 0.12%. Such statistics was provided to ArmInfo by the representation of Kaspersky Lab in Armenia.
According to the report, in Azerbaijan in 2018, 0.43% of mobile users were subjected to such attacks against 0.14% a year earlier, while in Georgia these figures were 0.42% and 0.05%, respectively.
According to the Kaspersky Lab, mobile banking Trojans steal bank card and application data. Many of them are able to block the interface of a banking application with their own - so that the user feels as if he is entering data into a banking application, and in fact gives them a trojan.
Also, quite often mobile banking Trojans intercept SMS from banks with confirmation codes or information about the withdrawal of funds. Some of these malicious programs use fake windows of a wide variety of applications that combine the fact that they all can request user card data, including the CVV code on the reverse side. The program then intercepts the SMS from the bank and forwards them to its owners so that they can complete transactions from their device on behalf of the victim user.
In order to protect against banking and other mobile Trojans, experts advise downloading applications only from official stores such as Google Play: this does not give a full guarantee of security, experts say, but there are fewer Trojans out there than outside the official sites.
